LIFE ON BOARD
DISCOVERY OF THE SPITSBERGEN ABOARD THE SAILBOAT
Experienced navigators or novices can, if they wish, participate in maneuvers, steering, preparing the route or briefing the weather with the skipper.
You will participate in the kitchen if you wish, doing the dishes and join with the overall onboard maintenance.
Hearty breakfast in the morning, simple lunch and a fleshed-out dinner prepared in the evening. Special dietary requirements are catered for if included in your voyage booking form.
We will provide you with quality bedding, sheets, duvets, pillows that will be ready upon your arrival, as well as a medium size towel.
Every day will be different depending on the visited sites and meetings. It may happen that we follow a bear with the boat for several hours, allow time to drift away in front of a glacier or simply listen to the living ice. Observations of the animals will be daily and varied.
Planned hiking will be within reach of anyone who can move around normally.
Various contests and board games animate life on board. Beginners in photography will find valuable advice with Marie-Diane and will have the opportunity to preview their pictures onscreen.
For your clothing, we advise you to pack: first, a top and bottom layer ideally made of merino wool and a second garment layer in thick fleece, 1 or 2 additional sweaters for the top and a breathable wind cheater for the top and bottom. Thick wool socks, collars, gloves and warm bonnets.
For your footwear: on-board, we recommend to wear crocs or slippers for the interior. On the deck, boots are ideal (as we cross many fords and for disembarking). Make sure you have sunglasses and sunscreen for your face.
